Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify (or honour) God with your bodies. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
To honour God with your body means to see yourself by the Spirit. To see the full and complete picture of you who you are.
The word glorify in Greek is Doxazo. Doxazo means to hold in honor. Magnify. Celebrate. To think, support and be in option of. It is to impart glory into something, make glorious and redeem illustrious. It is to cause dignity and worth of some person or thing to become manifest and acknowledged.
This collection is a promise and vow to honour my body. To see myself by the Spirit. To see that I am completely flawless – body, soul and spirit. The process to being whole and complete was finished on the Cross and the journey to see all that was finished for me looks like honoring myself through each layer. This beautiful journey started a year ago and here it is: a painful birth but an ode to invite others to share in the beauty of honoring our bodies.
No more shame.
No more lies.
We are absolutely and completely beautiful.
Lovely and flawless.
In Song of Songs 4:1, The Bridegroom says this about Shulamite’s eyes, “Your eyes glisten with love like gentle doves.” Her glistening eyes speak of eyes of her perception, eyes of understanding (Ephesians 1:18). The dove is a symbol of eyes that see with purity, loyalty, and devotion. May we vow to only seek out those things that are pure and good and not evil. Just as a dove’s eyes can only focus on one thing at a time, may our hearts be single, only focusing on the Bridegroom within us.
May His Voice speaker louder than all the other voices.
His voice says this about you:
You are beautiful. You are Precious. I am undone at the sound of your voice. The way you move your body. The dimples on your skin. The scars that have marked you. I am obsessed with you, my love. You are absolutely matchless. Flawless. And all mine. Forever.
